Since most of us are in quarantine for the next few weeks, I wanted to put together some beauty trends to try! What better opportunity to try these than when you’re home?!
1. Switch to Natural Deodorant.
If you’ve ever wanted to switch to natural deodorant before summer comes, now is your chance! Anti-perspirant deodorant has aluminum and other harmful chemicals in it that are linked to Alzheimers and breast cancer. I made the switch this winter and have been using Native – I LOVE it! I’d say it took my body about two weeks to fully adjust. I highly recommend you do this when you’re at home in quarantine to to give your body time to adjust. There are also armpit masks (like this one) you can use during the two weeks that help your body adjust.
2. Try the No-Poo method.
I’m unsure about trying this one, but quarantine would be the perfect time to do so if you’re curious! The no-poo method is not using shampoo in your hair. To do this, you need to stop washing your hair for 2+ weeks. It sounds like a difficult adjustment period for your scalp, but the results could be worth it in the long term. I recommend you watch some Youtube videos/read blog posts about this transition before you decide to try it!
3. Do a Chemical Peel.
You might not be able to go to a salon for this, so an at-home peel it is! I personally love using Drunk Elephant’s TLC Sukari Babyfacial Mask. It tingles A LOT for the first 2-3 minutes but then it stops. The results are AMAZING! My skin feels so smooth and soft afterwards. There are a lot of other chemical peel products on the market too!
4. Try a New Self Tanner.
Self-tanners can be SO tricky! If you’re nervous about how a new one will look on your skin, do it at home when you have no plans the next day! Some of my favorite self tanning brands are Coco & Eve, Isle of Paradise, TanCeuticals, and COOLA.
5. Exfoliate Your Scalp.
This is something I am SO passionate about! I learned about scalp health this year and think it’s very important. Exfoliating your scalp is important to remove any product buildup or dry skin that irritates your scalp. This buildup can also block your hair follicles and prevent new hair from growing. A lot of haircare brands released scalp treatments this year which I think is so cool! I love the scalp scrub from R + Co. Amika also released a “Reset” collection designed to detox your scalp.
6. Paint Your Nails.
I’ve always been a DIY-nail gal and now is the perfect time to try it if you aren’t! I highly recommend using products that are nontoxic as you make the switch away from the salon. I’ve been using Dazzle Dry polish and have noticed how HEALTHY my nails are! They’re strong and could grow very long (if I didn’t cut them every week!). Deborah Lippmann at Sephora has a great collection of nontoxic polishes!
7. Try a Lash Serum.
I’ve been hearing that girls who typically get lash extensions are struggling in this quarantine. I’ve never tried lash extensions, BUT I’ve tried lash serums and am obsessed. These serums help your eyelashes grow thicker and faster. This is a long-term solution and you won’t see results for at least 3 months of using the serum. But once you start seeing how long your lashes get, you will be hooked! I’ve heard you can’t use certain serums if you continue getting lash extensions- so check on that before you purchase anything! I’ve tried a few and think that RevitaLash is by far the best. It’s expensive, but it lasts you at least 3 months! 🙂
8. Use Hair Masks.
Hair masks are so important for preventing damage and being home 24/7 is the perfect time to do them! You should do a hair mask every week but you can do it more often if you’d like! I’ve been alternating between the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin mask and the Amika Kure Intense Repair mask. There are also so many other great options out there though!!
9. Whiten Your Teeth.
Teeth whitening at home can be a time consuming process, so this quarantine is perfect for it! There are countless brands that offer at-home kits for you to do this. I’ve tried a lot of them and always come back to the basic Crest whitening strips. They have an amazing deal right now where you can get two for the price of one!
10. Use a Lip Mask.
As the weather transitions and allergies arise, chapped lips can be a big issue! I’ve found that the Laneige lip sleeping mask does WONDERS for chapped lips. This is perfect to use overnight so you wake up with hydrated lips!
Let me know if you’re trying any of these products or if you have any other beauty trends to try!! Please stay home and stay safe over these next few weeks. We’ve got this! 🙂
